Chamber activity in Stockport

Ben Poland has taken over as President of Stockport Local Chamber Council. Ben, who works for RBS/Natwest, has already served as Vice President. His predecessor, David Hopkins OBE, died in August.

Ben said: "David's death was an extremely sad way to begin my presidency. I learnt a great deal from him and his enthusiasm for Stockport.

"I look forward to building on David's legacy by encouraging more businesses to get involved with Chamber activities in Stockport. The economic situation is still tough in Stockport as it is across Greater Manchester. Nevertheless we have some great companies based here and I believe we can weather the storm.

Ben was officially appointed President at the Chamber's annual Stockport lunch, which was held at the Village Hotel in Cheadle.

Stockport Council Meet the Buyer Event

As a result of last years successful event, Stockport Council, working with Business Link Northwest and partner organisations are offering the chance for local businesses to meet members of their procurement teams face to face.

• What: Meet the Buyer 2010
• When: Wednesday 3rd March 2010, 10am - 3.30pm
• Why: To give you the opportunity to meet with buying teams from  the Council and its associated companies and partners with a view to achieving new contracts 
• How: Ten minute appointment slots with the buying team (s) of your choice
