Our Activity

At its most recent meeting the group looked ahead to what activity and issues it would be working on over the coming 12 months:

Empty Property Rates - information is required about the cost to business of having to pay empty property rates. If this is impacting on your business the Chamber would like to hear from you. Actual costs will be useful in helping collate some idea about the overall cost to business and any information supplied will be treated in confidence. The Chamber is also looking for evidence around the potential impact of empty property rates holding back or delaying new developments.

Procurement - the Chamber is already working on a comprehensive piece of work around intelligent procurement but many members raised concerns about the increasing number of low/no margin bids where the work is being given to companies purely on price. If you have been subject to such a process or have had to work on putting right problems caused when successful bidders have been unable to fulfil the contract the Chamber would like to hear from you. Again all information supplied will be treated in confidence.

Each year, the Property and Construction Committee hosts an Annual Dinner for companies in the sector, where they announce the winner of the Greater Manchester Building of the Year Award. Have a look at the highlights from this year's event:
