Engaging with Learning in Young People

Careers Solutions has a proven track record in supporting the engagement and achievement of young people facing additional barriers. Our specialist adviser’s are highly qualified and recruited from a wide range of professional backgrounds including careers guidance, youth work, social work and teaching. They have established links within local communities and are well used to supporting young people and their families with a variety of issues, including brokering access to specialist services.

We also employ specialist advisers in the fields of substance misuse, mental health, Looked After Children, teenage pregnancy and youth offending who have extensive knowledge and experience of working with young people with these issues.

All advisers are trained and experienced in safeguarding and partnership working with other local agencies. Advisers can also offer support and information regarding motivational and inclusion activities as well as supporting schools with links to alternative education provision.

• Comprehensive assessment of need (linked to CAF) leading to a package of personal support
• Home visit support to plan re-engagement in learning
• Ongoing contact with parents/carers to support their son/daughters' reengagement in learning
• Transition support from engagement activity to mainstream learning
• Mentoring package
• Enhanced CEIAG including work experience preparation, job search skills, access to engagement activities
• Inset training for staff on vulnerable groups
• Collaboration and integrated working with support agencies and voluntary sector organisations
• School NEET self assessment and progression guides

Case Study

A local school invested in 1 day per week additional PA time and has now achieved Gold Inspiring IAG Award and a reduction in NEET form 15% to 5%.
