Inspiring IAG is a quality award which has been designed to provide a good practice framework and recognition of high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) for organisations that are providing support services for young people.

It has been written and updated by CEIAG specialists across a number of Local Authority areas in consultation with schools, colleges, learning providers, employers and local authority representatives and we will register for the Quality in Careers Standard recognition after the standard has been launched.

Who is it for?

This award is for all organisations that work with young people; schools, colleges, and other learning providers, as well as voluntary and community sector organisations and to reflect this there are two versions of the award available.

What is it?

Inspiring IAG has a three stage process, Bronze Standard; Silver Standard and Gold Award. Organisations can progress through each stage at a pace suitable and appropriate for them. The award includes aself assessment process and external assessment and validation. The process helps organisations to identify areas for development as well as recognising good practice in their CEIAG provision. Six key areas run through each stage of the award, each underpinned by the principles of equality and diversity and raising aspirations:

  • Management and Leadership
  • Design and Delivery of CEIAG
  • Working with Partners
  • Information and Communication
  • Young People
  • Parents/Carers

What help is available?

An organisation can access the support of a mentor to guide them through and offer support and advice whilst progressing through the different stages to the Award.

Why should an organisation do this?

  • Supports an organisation with their own in-house quality assurance process
  • Provides a framework for meeting national guidance and legislation
  • Is a useful audit tool
  • Enables an organisation to gain recognition for their provision and good practice
  • Helps support continuous improvement
  • Raises profile and knowledge of CEIAG at strategic and operational level
  • Can be excellent preparation for inspection

Ultimately it can help young people, as they will be enabled and prepared to make well informed, realistic decisions about their future.
