Work Matters

This web based resource helps professionals involved in supporting young people to prepare and make significant educational and career choices for a diverse and ever changing labour market. It is also suitable for use with adults, to assist with their progression routes into and within employment and learning.

Work Matters includes data and resources. Sections include:

• News - Current news items, and summaries of recently published reports
• Sectors - An overview of key employment sectors within the sub regional labour market
• Local Picture - Factsheets looking at the labour markets of individual local authority areas in the sub region
• Resources - To support the provision and understanding of Labour Market Information.

Training and Development

• Essential Guide to Labour Market Information: A half day course highlighting key trends locally, regionally and nationally, and enabling attendees to look at how the information gained can support practice.
• Annual Conference: A full day event providing an analysis of the labour market. This will include an overview of how the labour market is changing in response to economic developments, and consideration of those sectors that are experiencing growth. There will be the opportunity to hear from experts in the field, and attend workshops.

Bespoke Sessions

We are happy to respond to requests for labour market information. This includes presentations at parents’ evenings, input at city/borough wide events, training sessions for your staff, and support with producing and delivering materials to your pupils.

All of our services have been developed to allow for flexibility. They have been costed in a way that allows delivery to be specified or packaged in a variety of ways to suit your individual needs. Together with the services above, we offer a range of bespoke activities to develop enterprising behaviour and employability skills. We are also working closely with the Skills Funding Agency to develop and implement the new National Careers Service.
