Motivational Activities

In addition to Careers Guidance and Youth Work qualified advisers, Careers Solutions employ specialist advisers trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Solution Focused and Person Centred Planning. These skilled practitioners can work with support agencies, voluntary sector partners, schools, colleges and other learning providers to deliver motivational packages to ensure learners and young people not engaged in learning participate and reach their full potential.


How Motivational Activites can be used

Their input can be used to:

  • Motivate young people not in learning to participate
  • Support borderline learners to raise attainment
  • Support learners at risk of non attendance
  • Support non-engaging learners

Activities can be delivered on a one to one or small group basis from the age of 11 onwards and can be designed to meet your specific needs.


Services Available

Services available include:

  • Motivational coaching sessions for borderline students using NLP and other
  • Models (see example below)
  • IAG mentoring package to develop independent career planning and management skills
  • Early CEIAG interventions to promote aspiration e.g. Options choice interviews
  • Real Game, Kudos
  • “6 Winning skills” group work package for years 10 and 11
  • Additional work experience preparation and support
  • LMI sessions including employer visits
  • Information and brokerage to access alternative education providers/support agencies.

Case Study

Following the introduction of the NEET Prevention Guide and coordinated Work with Connexions one school reduced their NET from 11% to 2% and raised engagement in post 16 learning form 78% to 91.5%

Motivational Coaching example:

  • Introductory 1 to 1 session: to cover a language and behaviour profile looking at personality type, stressors/confidence-builders, motivators towards positives and away from negative behaviours. This results in a 1 page profile.
  • 2 Group sessions: to include identification of own learning style, how to learn in a different way, ‘parachute activity’, strategies and techniques to improve learning.
  • 1 to 1 session covering visualisation exercises, what makes you nervous/scared, how to adjust your perception, belief systems, identifications of skills and qualities.

Delivered in 3 or 4 sessions over 1 term with the option of refresher sessions as needed.
