“In the categories where we won – for International Services and Campaigning, we have worked extremely hard over recent years to create a first rate offer and these awards demonstrate that we are really delivering at the highest level."
At the national Chamber Awards in London Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce triumphed in two categories: Excellence in International Trade Services and Most Effective Campaigning.
The Chamber won for its comprehensive range of excellent international trade products and services, and for its nationally-recognised, ground-breaking campaign to tackle skills shortages in the construction sector. Chamber member Clothes2order also won the Best Use of Technology to Improve Business Performance Award.
The Chamber's Policy and Marketing Director, Chris Fletcher, (pictured right), said: “This was a great night for Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, both for our members, with finalists in five categories and one national winner, as well as for the Chamber itself. To have won two prestigious national awards is a proper recognition of the great service we offer, as well as a testament to the fantastic team of dedicated and talented individuals we have working for our members here at the Chamber.
“We were shortlisted in two out of four Chamber categories and we won both. We have worked extremely hard over recent years to create a first rate offer and these awards demonstrate that we are really delivering at the highest level and getting recognised at a UK level for being the best."
Winning company Clothes2order is a rapidly-growing business which supplies personalised clothing for uniforms, promotions and events. The company, based at Trafford Park, prints and embroiders logos and slogans on to clothing for more than 20,000 businesses, clubs, charities and societies, as well as individual customers. Its clients range from start-ups and small businesses to household names such as Google, Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, Microsoft and Kellogg’s.
In addition, this year Greater Manchester Chamber members were nominated, with four additional nominations for three other member companies: Quat-Chem was nominated for Regional Export Business of the Year Award and the High Growth Business of the Year Award, Barlows UK for People Development Award and Chloe Ramsden of Alliance Learning for Young Person in Business Award.
The Chamber Awards, which were created to “recognise very best of British businesses”, are now in their 12th year and recognised as one of the showpiece events in the business calendar, highlighting the role of business in delivering growth and prosperity for the UK and local communities. This year, businesses from across the country came together at the gala dinner, hosted by BBC Breakfast Presenter Steph McGovern, to mark the outstanding achievements of both UK firms and Chambers of Commerce.
