Manchester-based snack brand, Ten Acre, announces business relationship with Japan

Japanese Ambassador to the UK, Mr Koji Tsuruoka, met Ten Acre as the brand announced they have now started exporting premium snacks to Japan His Excellency, Mr Koji Tsuruoka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan in the United Kingdom, visited Manchester on 21st February to explore trade opportunities between the region and Japan. Tony Goodman, CEO of premium snack band Ten Acre, was one of the few business leaders asked to meet the Japanese ambassador on his visit. Tony introduced Mr Koji Tsuruoka to the wonderful world of Ten Acre and announced a recent deal which will see Ten Acre export their range of premium snacks to be distributed in Japan. Mr Goodman said: "It was a pleasure to meet His Excellency, Mr Koji Tsuruoka and welcome him to the wonderful world of Ten Acre – he thoroughly enjoyed the flavours and the stories behind our tasty snacks! We’re delighted to be exporting to Japan and to introduce Japanese customers to our innovative ‘Free From Plus’ products. During his visit Mr Koji Tsuruoka pledge that Japan will continue to support Greater Manchester to drive the next generation of innovation.”

The visit which coincided with the UK Northern Powerhouse International Conference – was coordinated by MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency (part of Manchester Growth Company), in conjunction with the Embassy of Japan, and supported by NIPPON KOEI - BDP. While discussing his visit, Mr Koji Tsuruoka said: "Our two countries have an excellent track record in innovation and creativity and I believe that, inspired by our common values, we can continue to contribute to the global community in this regard. We are greatly honoured that Greater Manchester has just designated Japan as one of its international priority partners. Ten Acre was only launched three years ago, after spotting a gap in the market for premium snacks that were 'Free From Plus' – snacks that everyone could enjoy regardless of their dietary restrictions or lifestyle choice. Ten Acre has exported products for just under two years, yet they have already been recognised by the Government, which recently chose the brand to be an Export Champion for the Department of International Trade.

Ten Acre is stocked in fine food shops, delis and cafes across the UK. Ten Acre is exported to over 40 countries including; Europe, North America, the Middle East, and several countries in the Far East. 'Free From Plus' means that not only are they award winning and great tasting, they are also gluten, dairy, MSG and GMO free, as well as vegan, vegetarian, halal and kosher certified. It is these credentials that have helped to catapult Ten Acre into the export market.
