Summit to Highlight Construction Skills Pipeline

The construction skills pipeline will be one of the key issues discussed at next month's Property & Construction Summit

The construction industry in Greater Manchester plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth, infrastructure development and job creation. To sustain and enhance this sector, it is crucial to establish a robust construction skills pipeline. This pipeline ensures a steady influx of skilled workers, aligning with industry demands and fostering sustainable development across the region.

A panel of leading experts will discuss the skills pipeline, covering topics such as forecasting, education & training provisions, apprenticeships, upskilling, reskilling, employers and diversity & inclusion. There will also be an update on Greater Manchester's economy. With significant investments in infrastructure projects such as transport, housing, and commercial developments, the construction sector remains a key contributor to Greater Manchester's economic vitality.

The panel discussion, chaired by TV and radio presenter Andy Crane, will feature the following experts: 

  • Market/Economic Update – Subrahmaniam Krishnan-Harihara (Greater Manchester Chamber)
  • Tier 1 Perspective – Gill Roberts (Morgan Sindall)  
  • SME Perspective – Steve Williamson (F Parkinson)
  • GM Good Employment Charter – Carol Halford 

The Property & Construction Summit will also feature a panel discussion on the subject of 'Climate Emergency – Crisis or Opportunity?' Attendees will also get the chance to attend one of the following three workshops:

  • A Digital Future
  • Levelling Up
  • Future Proofing Our City/Town Centres

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, will be the keynote speaker at the Property & Construction Summit, which will be hosted by TV and radio presenter Andy Crane.

Clive Memmott, Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, will also attend the summit.
