The Chamber is receiving an increasing amount of international trade enquires. Please see some key resources and information below: 

GMCC Export Documentation Service Changes

Our Elliot House office - the team based at Elliot House are now working remotely and can certify most documents electronically via EZ Cert. Please do not send documents via post, or courier, to Elliot House as our office is no longer open to the public.

Our advice telephone lines for the export documentation dept are: 0161 393 4311 / 12 / 13. These will be manned from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.

However, due to the large volumes of calls we may experience we encourage you to email us on exportdocs@gmchamber.co.uk. We will endeavour to reply to you as soon as we can. If you require assistance in any other international trade matters, please email us at exportbritain@gmchamber.co.uk.

Our Airport office - our Airport office will remain partially operational during this time from 10:00 a.m. till 13:00 p.m., so please post your documents or anything else for the Chamber to this address: Room 7, Building 308, World Freight Terminal, Manchester Airport M90 5PZ

Important Service Updates

  • COVID-19 Update for ATA Carnets – please click here.

  • E-Z CERT update (Electronic/Online docs system): As of 23rd April E-Z Cert has changed its web address to: www.ecert.sgs.com. Some customers may need to change their passwords on the site as a result of this change.  

  • The Qatar Embassy is suspending legalisation requirements for documents. Legalisation can now be completed via EZ Cert.

  • Switzerland, Chile and Mexico are now accepting temporary use of electronic stamps for EUR1s.

  • Saudi Arabia is now accepting electronic signatures on Arab Certificates of Origin.

  • The following Arab Embassies are now open: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Jordan Embassies.

  • The Chamber can now issue Force Majeure certificates to customers facing issues with the movement of goods due to COVID-19. Read how to apply here.

  • As of 7th April the FCO will resume its legalistation service operating on reduced hours (Mon-Thurs) and will be accepting a limited amount of documentation. As a result, this service will be slower than usual, so please plan as ahead of time as you possibly can.

  • The Export Control Joint Unit has issued two notices concerning the impact of COVID-19 on compliance checks and processing export licence applications. Please read the first notice here and the second notice here.

  • Chancellor waives duties and VAT on vital medical imports, for more information, click here

  • UK Export Finance expands support for Exporters against non-payment in response to COVID-19, for more information, click here

  • Help providing goods and services to the NHS in response to COVID-19, for more information click here

  • UK registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £20 million to respond to new and urgent needs in UK and global communities during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications close on 17th at 12 pm. For more information click here.

  • HMRC has released guidance on how to request an extension to the payment period for import duty/import VAT payments. More details here.
