This course is part of our Leaders' Network offering. We aim to bring you the very best Director Development offer at a price that works for businesses of all shapes and size, across Greater Manchester and the North of England.

There has never been a time when the need to have a world class board has been more important. Research from Sheridan and Kendal shows that the number one reason that companies fail is a poorly structured and poorly trained board.

The board that’s fit for today brings together a wealth of skills and knowledge – from digital to crisis management, from mergers and acquisitions to online sales, and from funding to multimedia. That’s a lot of different skillsets. As most companies are run and owned by the same people, confusion can prevail, as you ask yourself, ‘Am I wearing my shareholder hat, my management hat or my Director hat?’ All of these roles come with a different specification and level of responsibility.

Often Directors arrive at the boardroom having been promoted from a less senior role – they don’t necessarily have the skills or knowledge to perform to their very best.  That is why Director training is so crucial.

Equally companies need to continually assess the composition of their boards, as the demands of modern business evolve – a perfectly competent board of yesteryear can not be expected to meet today’s challenges.

Being world class is something we should all aspire to, but it’s now more important than ever, that organisations and board members themselves take control of our own destiny.

The course will cover:

✓ Analysing the strengths and weaknesses in the board and taking action
✓ Change the people or change the people!
✓ What a future- proofed board looks like
✓ Talent identification and retention

✓ The importance of diversity
✓ Continuous improvement and the learning board
