Following the signing of an Economic Cooperation Partnership between Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, we are pleased to launch our first market visit to Gumi at the end of March 2020.
Gumi City is located in South Korea and boasts the country’s largest inland industrial complex. Home to manufacturers such as LG and Samsung, Gumi is renowned for its industry - especially in the Technology, Automotive and Advanced Material sectors.
Made up of 5 city complexes, each with a different Industry focus, Gumi is a hub of industry and innovation and has many similarities to the economy of Greater Manchester.
The Market Visit will be led by Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s CEO Clive Memmott and Susana Cordoba, Head of International Trade. We will also be joined by representatives from Manchester City Council and businesses from Greater Manchester region and beyond.
WHAT CAN COMPANIES EXPECT FROM THE TRADE MISSION
Activities that may be included in the trade mission include the below, please note that the below is still to be confirmed.
1. Visit some advanced IT industry companies such as Samsung or LG
2. Arranged b2b meetings.
3. Meeting with Gumi CCI and city officers
4. Visit some relevant organisations(eg. Gumi Electronic and Information Research Institute, Universities, business support facilities)
WHO CAN JOIN THED MARKET VISIT?
We welcome companies from Greater Manchester and beyond to join this market visit, and whilst the market visit is not sector specific, but companies operating in the below sectors are encouraged to attend:
- New Technology, ICT
- Digital Health
- Advanced Materials / Textiles
We also welcome companies who are targeting Asia as one of their next target regions for their global growth strategy.
Please note, you must be a UK registered company to attend.
This Trade Mission is partly funded by Gumi City.
- Local accommodation, transport and some meals whilst in Gumi citcy will be covered by Gumi City.
- International flights, other accommodation other than in Gumi city and subsistence related expenses and travel within South Korea and the UK will not be covered and businesses are responsible for financing this.
Each company is responsible from sourcing their own international travel. Greater Manchester will be working with an approved supplier for the logistics travel arrangements and companies are welcome to use their services.

Whilst there is no participation fee, please note that once you have been successful with your expression of interest, any cancellation a month or less before the Market visit taking place or no shows, there will be an admin fee invoiced as follows:
- Members: £100+VAT per delegate
- Non-Members: £150+VAT per delegate
