We are currently highlighting the buildings that have been shortlisted for the Greater Manchester Chamber Building of the Year Award 2020.
This time we are focusing on Tameside Wellness Centre, which features an eight lane 25 m main pool, 17m learner pool, Changing Village, Thermal Spa Suite, 150 Station 24hr Fitness Gym, Dance Studio, External Roof Mounted Exercise Space, Sensory Garden, 10 Lane 10 Pin Bowling Alley, Soft Play Area, Community Rooms, Party Rooms, Social Interaction Space along with associated administration, office functions and plant space.
Along with the large flexible studio, modern open plan fitness suite and spa, the centre uses its form to allow customers to climb atop building and enjoy views over the roof tops of Denton and onto the Peak District beyond.
The design team and operator worked very hard to ensure the building provides a large flexible environment which can grow with its users to support their needs and aspirations for years to come.
The centre uses exciting and engaging interior design to create an open and airy central hub from which each major component can be appreciated. The social interaction space allows customers the opportunity to see competition level swimming, community based activities, children’s interactive learning and state of the art ten-pin bowling all from the very heart of the centre. A remembrance wall has also been placed here giving a sense of heritage and appreciation for the people and community of Tameside and all those who gave their lives to protect it.
The aim of the Building of the Year Award is to recognise a building’s contribution to Greater Manchester in terms of construction and development.
The award will be presented at the Chamber Property & Construction Awards Dinner on 14th October 2021.
