Greater Manchester Chamber continues to expand its network of partners across the globe. It is our pleasure to announce we have signed a partnership agreement with the Korea Export & Import Association (KOEXIMA) based in Seoul and Busan, South Korea, although it also has offices in the USA.
This high-level partnership is set to promote trade and investment links. As of 2019, according to the ONS, the North West had a combined trade of £720million with South Korea of which £294 million was related to exports of goods and £426million to imports.
Greater Manchester has over 500 businesses proactively trading with South Korea and in 2019 trade reached £230million, leaving scope for further growth. According to the International Trade Centre, UK companies could be exporting an additional US$2.4billion worth of goods. There are aloso opportunities in the service sector, with both the UK and South Korea having strong expertise in areas such as Fintech, technology and Life Sciences to mention but a few.
We look forward to cooperating with KOEXIMA and helping companies across our countries to do more business together.
