The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) launched its flagship Chamber Business Awards at London Stock Exchange on 7 March. The prestigious competition is one of the showpiece events in the business calendar, recognising and promoting the best of British business through a series of regional heats, culminating in a Gala Awards Dinner, which will take place in London on 28 November.

Entries are now open and will run until Friday 28 June. Next year’s winners of the Business of the Year award will have the same chance to open the market at London Stock Exchange as a prize, a rare opportunity for a private business.

The Export Business Award recognises the strength of Britain’s exporters. In order to stand out, entrants for this award must demonstrate their growing presence on the international market. Connect emotionally with the judges by narrating your story of entering a new market or collaborating with other businesses to increase your export activity.

Judges will be looking at the level of exports when compared to the size and sector of the organisation, the barriers that have been overcome (e.g. languages), the degree to which products/services are new and markets non-traditional, and innovative approaches to establishing and entering new markets.

Applications are now open; the closing date is midnight 28th June 2019 and regional winners will be announced on 23rd September with the national winners announced at the Gala Awards Dinner on Thursday 28th November 2019.

Greater Manchester Chamber member Northcoders, last year’s winner of the ‘Business of the Year’ award, had the honour of opening trading at the London Stock Exchange. In 2017, member Elucigene Diagnostics won the Export Business of the Year Award.

There are 9 different categories open for entry. Applying is easy, with an online entry process. Participants may include a maximum of five attachments to their entry form, these must be images and must not exceed 5MB; the maximum word count for any entry is 2000 words and the question is not included.
