53two, a Manchester born and bred arts and theatre charity, are looking to expand their team of trustees (directors of the board of the charitable company) as the organisation grows and moves into a new home.
53two have operated a theatre/bar/venue space in central Manchester since 2017 and are in the process of redeveloping a new 150 seater venue, due to open this year, which will receive, develop and produce new theatre and performance work. Engaging directly with the art, the heart and Northern soul of its community, 53two have particular focus on embedding inclusivity and accessibility for all, both for artists on and offstage and for its audiences.
53two are particularly keen to recruit additional trustees from members of the wider regional business community who can support the development of the organisation with advice and knowledge drawn from 1 or more of the following areas:
- People with expertise in financial management
- People with experience of living with a disability
- People with experience of racism
Trustees will be joining an existing board team of four members from across all fields who oversee the running of the charity. The board is responsible for approving the strategy, policies and financial direction of the charity in line with its objectives, and enabling and supporting the management team to operate creatively and practically to implement these on an ongoing basis. Board meetings typically occur 4-6 times a year, with some additional sessions expected as we move into the new venue. Please note, this is an unpaid role as a trustee however, we are not looking for your unpaid professional services. A passion for theatre/the arts not essential but welcome.
