Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is once again holding a competition for contemporary artists, with our annual arts prize which is now open!
This year, the artwork will be displayed at a pop-up exhibition taking place in Bolton Museum and Art Gallery. The overall winner and three runners-up will be presented with an award at the Chamber’s Annual Business Dinner on 13 June at Victoria Warehouse.
Joy Sewart, Head of Skills Development at Greater Manchester Chamber, said: “Our aim is to find and build the careers of artists and help develop artistic talent across the region. There is a wealth of talent and our job at the Chamber is to provide a platform to showcase and celebrate the work of our contemporary visual artists.”
Jo Clements was our overall winner for the 2018 art prize, with her film ‘Unit For’, which explored the artists' role in society, space, homelessness and manipulated information. Jo said "It’s overwhelming to be awarded the prize in a year with such a strong shortlist and in a city with so many talented artists. The recognition, affirmation and exposure of winning the award has enthused and inspired me to consider my future artwork and career in bigger, broader and bolder ways.”
