Expert staff at a local office dedicated to addressing the needs of clients throughout Lancashire helped accountants and business advisors Beever and Struthers to retain a valued client in the Third Sector.

The Community Foundations for Lancashire and Merseyside (CFLM) re-appointed the Beever and Struthers’ office in Central Buildings, Richmond Terrace, Blackburn for 2018 to 2020, because of the firm’s experienced charity, not-for-profit and social housing team.

The specialist team at the firm acts as a dedicated resource to more than 100 charities and not-for-profit organisations nationwide, offering in-depth knowledge of the Third Sector including accounting, tax, regulatory and governance complexities.

Beever and Struthers – whose main office is in Manchester and has a third office in London - has acted for the Community Foundation for Lancashire since its inception in 2009 and was appointed by the Community Foundation for Merseyside in 2012.

The two organisations merged in 2014 with Beever and Struthers continuing as their accountants and business advisors.

CFLM offer a service to individuals and organisations who want to give to local causes in their respective regions and are among a network of such organisations throughout the UK, overseen by the Community Foundation Network.

The Lancashire Community Foundation recently won Best Fundraising Campaign at the NorthWest Charity Awards for its achievements on the Lancashire Flood Recovery Appeal in 2015/2016.

Having launched the appeal to help people in hardship across Lancashire affected by the flooding caused by Storm Desmond and Storm Eva, more than £1m was raised to provide grants to groups and individuals in need of support.

Mark Bradley (pictured), a partner in the specialist Third Sector team at Beever and Struthers, said: “Knowledge is everything and our widely-respected expertise in the provision of specialist audit services to major players in the Third Sector helped us to retain this valued client.”

And Sue Hutchinson, a fellow partner who chairs the Charity Strategy Group at Beever and Struthers, added: “Our Blackburn office allows Beever and Struthers to provide clients such as CFLM with a genuinely local service offering expert staff on the ground and in touch with their requirements, with such in-depth knowledge and experience helping us to retain and win a number of prestigious clients in the Third Sector over the past year.”

Sarah Mitchell, Finance Director at Community Foundations for Lancashire & Merseyside commended Beever and Struthers on the service during tenure and remarked: “Beever and Struthers has consistently delivered above and beyond the standard audit service.   Of particular value is the strong on-site presence and the flexibility Beever & Struthers’ staff have offered as CFLM has changed operating models over the years.

“One of our key strategic priorities is to increase our investment in Lancashire communities and our impact in the county. We look forward to working with Beever and Struthers on this and other strategic objectives over the coming years.”
