Chamber member DMR Training has joined forces with ProCo to offer construction companies easier access to training and assessment services. And the best news for employers is that they can access this training now – there’s no need to wait until September!
ProCo, a large training provider in Wigan, recently awarded DMR Training a subcontract for the delivery of construction apprenticeships, traineeships and study programmes from their excellent training facilities in Wigan town centre. The Wigan Skills Centre boasts well-equipped workshops and classrooms that can support a broad range of construction skills training and is a fantastic addition to the DMR’s own training facilities in Leigh.
DMR Training offers more than 20 construction NVQs and holds accreditation to deliver qualifications ranging from Level 2 to Level 6. It was DMR's experience, reputation for excellence and their customer service standards that led to the award of this subcontract.
“This is an exciting venture which increases our capacity to meet the training and assessment needs of construction companies across the North West” says DMR managing director, Dave Radley. “We are looking forward to working with ProCo to meet those needs. We are very proud of our achievement track record - over the last three years we have delivered more than 600 NVQs for experienced with a 99% success rate. We are keen to bring this success rate to our delivery commitments at ProCo.”
Through this working partnership DMR Training will bring additional construction trades to ProCo’s Wigan Skills Centre broadening the range of qualifications which can be delivered from this site - great news for employers in the surrounding areas.
Commenting on the partnership, ProCo Chief Executive Carol Halford said: “ProCo is delighted to be working with DMR. The collaboration is based upon a mutual desire to provide high quality training experiences that meet the needs of employers, young people and adults. The wealth of sector expertise within DMR, coupled with the training infrastructure at ProCo, provide the opportunity to deliver flexible, bespoke training solutions. Through the partnership, we are confident that we can respond quickly to current and emerging skills needs within the construction sector.”
Whether it’s NVQs for experienced workers or full apprenticeships to bring new talent into the business, employers need to ensure their staff are equipped with the right skills and qualifications to meet future business needs. With the construction sector due to experience an annual growth of 2.5% over the 2017-2021 period* employers have never been in greater need of a trusted training partner to help them bridge the skills gap. It is expected that more than 5,000 construction jobs will be created every year for the next four years in the North West region alone* – that’s a lot of training and assessing!
