The Chamber has been saddened to learn of the recent passing of Peter Weidenbaum OBE.

Peter was an integral part of the 2004 merger between Manchester and North Manchester Chambers that created Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. A leading business figure in the then Bury Chamber, Peter, the owner of Trumeter, became the GM Chamber’s first Vice President following the merger in October 2004.

Chris Fletcher, Policy Director at the Chamber, said: “Like everyone at the Chamber I was saddened to hear about Peter’s passing. I remember very well the role that Peter played in the early days of the merger to form the Greater Manchester Chamber and he was influential in helping the merger be a success.

"He was a genuine person that treated you with warmth and had a great habit of making you feel right at home. Whilst we dealt with some big issues post-merger and other business issues in the local community he did it with great humility and we always found time for a non-business chat as well. He was extremely proud of Trumeter, was a wealth of knowledge about the business and also doing business.

"He will be missed by his family and also by a great number of people who would have come across him in a professional capacity. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time.”
