Raised Floor Solutions is celebrating securing new composite steel decking contracts with a value of £3 million in the last five months, and all for construction projects based in the Greater Manchester area.
Twenty-two regional based contracts have been awarded to the composite flooring specialist since September last year, ranging from student accommodation schemes to high schools, health centres and luxury apartment blocks.
The projects will see Raised Floor Solutions supply and install over 65,000m2 of Kingspan Multideck steel decking and design and install nearly 50,000m2 of concrete flooring.
Amongst the wins is ‘Citu NQ’ on Tib Street in the Northern Quarter (pictured), a scheme of 183 apartments with ground floor retail from Salboy; the property business established by Salford born billionaire bookie Fred Done, and X1’s ‘The Landmark’ on Liverpool Street in Salford, which offers 191 apartments and townhouses, both of which start on site in Q1 2018.
Manchester is experiencing a huge building boom, one that’s been dubbed ‘the second industrial revolution’ with an estimated 400% increase in residential units under construction in the city centre alone over the last two years. Added to this are new office schemes, education facilities, medical research and healthcare centres, retail destinations and even hotels.
Figures released from The Urbinfo Manchester Development Map* cite that 2018 opened with 123 schemes under construction and 135 projects approved with construction due to start imminently. A further 42 projects hold a planning application and 39 are at pre-planning stage.
Says Raised Floor Solutions MD, Graham Hewitt, “This is an incredibly exciting time to be involved in the construction industry in Greater Manchester. The landscape of the region is evolving and the transformation goes hand-in-hand with the £1bn expansion of Manchester Airport and the arrival of HS2 in 2033.
“Public and private investment on this scale only serves to attract further investment as businesses flock to establish a base in the region. With businesses come jobs and with jobs come people, creating a need for more accommodation, more services and more amenities. This is reflected in the broad range of construction projects we’ve been fortunate enough to secure over the last five months,” he adds.
Raised Floor Solutions was established in Skelmersdale in 2003 as a specialist composite flooring contractor.
