The Hallé Orchestra has announced a new concert on Thursday 8 March 2018 at 6pm called 6 o’clock Classics. The new ‘drive time’ event will take place at The Bridgewater Hall and is aimed at attracting new audiences to hear the award-winning symphony orchestra whilst also avoiding the rush hour.
The concert, conducted by Johann Stuckenbruck, will last for around an hour and the programme includes:
Verdi Overture: The Force of Destiny
Debussy Clair de Lune
Copland Fanfare for the Common Man
Tchaikovsky ‘Pas de Deux’ from The Nutcracker
Beethoven Finale from Symphony No. 7
John Summers, the Hallé’s Chief Executive said: “We decided to put on a drive time concert to allow people to let the rush hour disappear and try something different instead. We’re performing a selection of well-known classics which people may recognise, so you will be able to forget about your normal commute and lose yourself in music for an hour or so.”
The concert will also feature a big screen on which members of the orchestra will introduce the music being performed.
Tickets cost £17.50 and £12.50 for concessions (including booking fees) and are available on the Hallé’s website: https://www.halle.co.uk/whats-on/six-oclock-classics/ or by calling the box office on 0161 907 9000.
