A new sports and leisure partnership is set to encourage more people in south Manchester to get active.

After overseeing a rigorous and competitive tender process, the Wythenshawe Forum Trust has selected the national leisure operator, Everyone Active, to manage its sports and fitness facilities at Wythenshawe Forum, as well as the on-site café and function catering – Forum Flavours.

Everyone Active will also manage Forum Events – comprising meetings, conferences, the concourse space and large events hall.

The two organisations will begin their partnership on 1 December. Facilities will remain under the strategic leadership of the Trust, with Everyone Active taking on the day-to-day operation.

Eddie Flanagan, chief executive of Wythenshawe Forum Trust, is positive about the future: “Everyone Active brings a level of leisure industry expertise that will enhance our current provision and partnerships. Customers will benefit from greater efficiencies, easier access to health and wellbeing support, and improved leisure and events provision.”

Everyone Active is the UK’s longest-established leisure contractor and operates more than 170 facilities in partnership with local authorities and trusts across the country.

It will also introduce a new talent development programme to the area. Created to support up-and-coming sports men and women to achieve their potential, Everyone Active Sporting Champions offers local athletes access to high-quality training facilities, financial support and expert advice.

Regional director, Jon Senior, said: “Improving the health and wellbeing of local communities sits at the heart of everything we do, and we make it a priority to ensure that each one of our centres meets the unique needs of its local community.

“I am thrilled that Everyone Active has been chosen to work alongside the Trust and we are excited to become part of the partnership behind improving the health and wellbeing of people in Wythenshawe.”

Forum Leisure is part of the MCRactive initiative whereby all leisure venues and providers across Manchester will work to the same strategy – offering Manchester residents additional opportunities and easier access to activities to improve their health and wellbeing.
