A Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce member is an editorial partner for a commemorative publication marking King Charles III’s 75th birthday.

Wigan Borough-based Compassion in Action (CIA) features in King Charles III: The Leadership and Vision of a Modern Monarch in a chapter dedicated to learning, wellness and charities.

Val Allen, President of CIA, attended the book launch – held at Claridge’s in central London.

“We are honoured to be included in this prestigious publication, produced by St James’s House, which celebrates a landmark birthday in the life of our monarch during his coronation year,” said Pam Gilligan, CEO at CIA.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Derek Beaumont, owner of Leigh Leopards RLFC, for hosting our official photoshoot for the commemorative album at Leigh Sports Village. Representatives of our partner organisations gathered on the rugby pitch with coaching staff and players from the club – illustrating our belief that we are stronger together. A second photo – taken at our Community Village of Inclusion on Leigh Road – also features in the book.”

Produced in the year of His Majesty’s coronation, this hardback book has been written by The New York Times best-selling author Robert Jobson and features the photography of legendary royal photographer Arthur Edwards MBE.

Charting the King’s life from his celebrated birth and early years, through his role and responsibilities as the Prince of Wales, to his accession and coronation, the book reflects on the ideas and issues that he has championed along the way.

It also considers how The King intends to shape a relevant and future-facing monarchy for the world of today and tomorrow.

“Our contribution to this commemorative album focuses on our provision of whole-person care, which we deliver across four key pillars: Practical, Physical, Mental and Social,” explained Pam. “Every project we undertake evolves from our mission statement: ‘Heart prints of love… Meeting the needs of the people’. We give people hope at a time of despair.”

In 2014, the charity was the proud recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK.

CIA also featured in the official Platinum Jubilee Pageant commemorative album – a copy of which is held at the Town Hall.
