2. UK EVENTS


Annual Conference and Dinner 2017

Date: 16th March 2017

Time: 8am-5pm

Location: Dublin

Organiser: British Irish Chamber of Commerce

Following key pieces from a politician, the lead sponsor of the conference and an economist, the programme will move into a financial and professional services moderated panel following which we'll host a second moderated panel on food and agri business and tourism - all sectors challenged by the UK's decision to exit the EU. After buffet luncheon there will be an address from the Chamber's Patron Niall FitzGerald KBE DSA followed by two further panels. The Enterprise Suite will also be running simultaneously to the Conference.

For the evening, we will all re-assemble at the same venue for a networking dinner but given the weekend that's in it (England v Ireland, final game in the RBS 6 Nations), there'll be rugby and fun layers too, including a dance band.

The 7th edition of AIM will be hosted from April 2nd - 4th, 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Center, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister & Ruler of Dubai.

AIM is a premier three-day FDI focused event that includes an executive thought leadership conference, country presentations, workshops, international exhibition, investment awards, and various networking functions. AIM presents itself as the new emerging markets FDI stimulator, fast developing economies growth incubator, and semi-industrialized nations leadership partner.

The theme of the 7th edition of the Annual Investment Meeting will be “International Investment, Path to Competitiveness and Development”.

FMCG Forum- Slovenia

The main sponsor and partner of the event is the biggest retailer in Slovenia and one of the most important retailers in the Adriatic region, who is willing to meet with UK companies at the event.

Textile Trade Show in Europe

A Textile Association in Portugal are inviting potential UK importers to come to this tradeshow that will take place in June, and potentially paying for the trip and accommodation for the UK businesses.

Please find below a summary on the initiative:

  • Sector: Textile
  • Sub-sector: Household textiles products - bed linen, bath linen, kitchen and table linen, terry towels, upholstery and curtains
  • Objective- To attract and invite UK importers to attend the tradeshow

Visitors will be able to have B2B contacts with the companies, will enjoy the medieval surroundings of this historical city. Being so close to the factories, visitors may be able to see how they are set up and see, first hand, the excellent quality of their work.

Northern Powerhouse Export Taster Visit

Joint the Department for International Trade for a Nothern Powerhouse Export Taster Visit. The visits are great for businesses wanting to explore overseas markets without having to use lots of their resources for an international exhibition. Businesses will be able to network with international professionals and receive assistance from an International Trade Adviser before, throughout and after the visit. The visits are subsidised and cost £99+VAT including travel and accommodation. However, please note that the visits are not organised by the Chamber and booking fees may apply.

Overseas Trade Delegation to Egypt from 11 to 15 February 2017

UK companies are invited to join a business delegation to Cairo and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, organised by the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce - in partnership with London Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) and the Egyptian-British Business Council.

The UK is the largest foreign investor in Egypt, and trade between the two countries reached £1.8bn in 2015. Its large consumer market (90 million), strategic location and free trade agreements with the EU, Africa and the Arab Region make it an ideal business hub.

The three-day programme offers B2B events in Cairo as well as a visit to two mega infrastructure projects; the Capital Cairo and the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
