Greater Manchester Local Skills Improvement Plan
The Greater Manchester Local Skills Improvement Plan (GM LSIP) is a crucial, employer-informed initiative designed to ensure that the training and education provision across our city region meets the evolving demands of local businesses like yours.
We are inviting business leaders and owners from all sectors in Oldham to join us in shaping the GM LSIP. This is your opportunity to move beyond identifying talent issues and actively collaborate on solutions that will close skills gaps and drive regional economic growth.
The GM LSIP is a powerful, unified strategy jointly owned by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). This partnership ensures that your feedback directly informs both regional skills strategy and provision in higher education, further education colleges and other independent training providers.
Why must you participate?
The views of business leaders and owners are the most valuable data we can collect. Without hearing directly from employers in Oldham, the GM LSIP risks missing the specific, localised skills challenges you face. By participating, you can influence policy and funding to ensure that funding allocated for skills and training is invested in the qualifications and courses your business genuinely needs.

What are the key roles and capabilities your business requires now and might require in the next 3 to 5 years?
What specific technical roles are most difficult to recruit?
What sector-specific, digital or soft skills do you find job seekers lacking?
What training or upskilling needs do your existing employees have, and how can local providers better support you?
How can local universities, colleges and apprenticeship providers create better pathways into high-skilled jobs in your sector?
