Building of the Year 2025
Members are being invited to make suggestions for this year's Building of the Year Award.
The aim of the award is to recognise a building’s contribution to Greater Manchester in terms of construction and development. This could include the building’s significance to the City Region, its impact on the local economy, its effect on the local community, its importance in terms of urban regeneration and environmental enhancement, its design excellence, or its contribution to urban design and townscape.
The following areas will be considered during the selection process:
Design quality
Construction techniques
Sustainability credentials
Function and use
Economic benefits
Community benefits
Value for money
Innovation and special features
Rules of entry
The building must be within Greater Manchester;
The building can be new-build or refurbishment/conversion;
The building must have reached practical completion and be in the possession of the client by early January 2026 when the site visit will take place if shortlisted, week beginning 19th January 2026.
The award will be presented to the commissioning body at the GM Chamber Property & Construction Awards Dinner date and venue to be confirmed – March 2026.
ALL shortlisted finalist’s will be expected to attend the Awards Dinner.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
A clear, simple four-step pathway:
1. Complete the Nomination Form
Submitted by the line manager, with input from the apprentice’s mentor or training provider.
2. Judging Panel Review
All submissions are reviewed and individually scored by an impartial panel from our construction group.
3. Finalists Announced
Shortlisted apprentices and their line managers will be notified on 4 February 2026.
4. Winner Revealed
The award will be presented at the Property & Construction Annual Dinner on 5 March 2026 at Manchester Hall.
All shortlisted candidates and nominators must attend.

Anybody in the organisation can submit a nomination however a detailed account of the apprentice's experience and journey therefore we advise a line manager's input
Yes. The apprentices will have to be in attendance at the dinner to collect their award and certificates.
