Counter Appoints New Tech Lead to Drive Engineering Excellence

Counter, the consultancy arm of Northcoders, has appointed Tom Legg as its newest tech lead. With a strong background across various technologies including ML web apps, and experience in leading high-performing tech teams, Tom has joined Counter to strengthen its core offering and to support client delivery across various sectors.

Tom has previously worked at Aiimi and Sykes Holiday Cottages, where he played key roles in building and maintaining innovative digital solutions. He studied at Liverpool John Moores University, and he has completed a leadership development course at Harvard Business School.

In his new role at Counter, Tom will be responsible for setting the technical direction of engineering teams deployed across client projects. He will ensure code quality and consistency, mentor developers, and foster strong collaboration between technical, product, and UX stakeholders.

Tom said: “I was really drawn to Counter because of the way it positions itself - not just as a consultancy, but as a true delivery partner that embeds itself with clients to solve complex technical problems; it’s an approach that really resonates with me. I also value Counter's focus on long-term impact that transfers knowledge, upskills teams, and leaves clients in a stronger position with products that are truly aligned to their broader product and engineering roadmaps.

Tom added: “Moving forward, my goal is to help build strong, collaborative teams where everyone has the tools, clarity, and confidence to deliver excellent work. This will be achieved through solid technical foundations, by encouraging cross-functional collaboration, and by creating an environment where teams take pride in both the products they deliver and the way they work together.”
