GMLPN Launches 2024/25 Annual Report: Driving Skills, Collaboration, and Opportunity Across the City-Region

The Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMLPN) has today published its 2024/25 Annual Report, showcasing a year of growth, collaboration, and impact across the Further Education and Skills sector in Greater Manchester.

For almost 25 years, GMLPN has championed vocational and technical education. This year’s report reflects a period of significant change and challenge, including the introduction of Skills England, the Post-16 Skills White Paper, and evolving funding priorities. Despite these shifts, GMLPN has continued to influence policy, strengthen partnerships, and deliver practical support to its 153 member organisations.

Key Highlights from 2024/25:

Influencing Policy: GMLPN represented members’ voices in national consultations, including Ofsted’s revised inspection framework and apprenticeship assessment reforms, while shaping local strategies with GMCA and partners.

Tackling NEET Challenge: Launched the GM Position Paper and hosted events to address youth disengagement, reinforcing the commitment to inclusive growth.

Celebrating Excellence: Launched the GM Skills Awards 2025 in partnership with GMCC, attracting 300 nominations and 350 guests to celebrate outstanding contributions across 12 categories.

Capacity Building: Delivered 52 events and relaunched the GMLPN Exchange Programme, enabling collaboration and best practice sharing. The Multiply Provider Support Programme engaged 316 individuals and delivered 110 CPD activities.

Employer Engagement: Strengthened collaboration with GMCC and local authorities to align provision with employer needs, supporting regeneration and economic growth.

Membership Growth: Welcomed 38 new organisations, bringing total membership to 153, including training providers, FE colleges, employers, sector partners + more!

Looking ahead, GMLPN will mark its 25th anniversary in 2026 and transition to a Community Interest Company (CIC), reinforcing its mission to deliver inclusive, high-quality skills provision for Greater Manchester.
