North-West based, environmental compliance specialist Ecogenesys has announced the launch of the Ecogenesys Training Academy. Drawing on more than 20 years of industry experience to deliver practical, Carbon Literacy Project (CLP)-accredited training for SME businesses across the region.

Proven compliance provider brings Carbon Literacy Training to SMEs

Unlike traditional academic programmes, the new academy is built by industry, for industry. Ecogenesys has spent two decades operating an environmental compliance scheme for UK and international household electrical brands, supporting businesses to meet complex regulatory requirements and embed sustainable practices at scale. The training academy translates that real-world expertise into applied, business-focused learning designed to work in day-to-day commercial environments.

The Ecogenesys Training Academy will initially deliver three Carbon Literacy Project (CLP) - accredited, Carbon Literacy Training courses.

  • CLP-accredited Carbon Literacy for Producer Responsibility

  • CLP-accredited Carbon Literacy for the Environmental Sector

  • CLP-accredited Carbon Literacy for SMEs

New Carbon Literacy Training designed for SMEs

The SME-focused programme has been specifically designed in response to growing demand from businesses across all sectors for trusted, practical sustainability training that delivers a competitive edge. Shaped by Ecogenesys’ long-standing work with its producer members, the course equips business leaders and teams with the knowledge, tools and confidence to integrate carbon awareness into operational and strategic decision-making - helping SMEs differentiate from competitors through credible climate capabilities.

The launch of CLP-accredited Carbon Literacy Training for SMEs also marks an important new growth phase for Ecogenesys, opening the organisation’s services to non-members for the first time. Accreditation by The Carbon Literacy Project ensures the course meets a globally recognised standard, giving SMEs confidence that the training is credible, consistent and aligned with best practice.

With SMEs central to the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy, the Ecogenesys Training Academy will initially focus delivery and outreach across the North-West, supporting businesses in leading the way on Carbon Literacy and contributing to the region’s wider ambitions for a thriving green economy. The course reflects the real-world challenges SMEs face, saving time, cost and confusion by linking climate knowledge to SMEs business priorities and operational decisions.

Proven expertise in environmental sector

Ecogenesys brings deep, proven expertise to the launch of its Training Academy, having operated for more than 20 years as one of the UK’s leading producer compliance schemes for WEEE, Packaging and Batteries. Formerly known as REPIC, the organisation rebranded to Ecogenesys one year ago to reflect the breadth of its environmental capability and its evolving role in supporting businesses to identify opportunities within the green economy.

Ecogenesys, Executive Chairman, Abs Bokhari, adds: “Our 20 years of delivering environmental compliance has given us deep sector knowledge and makes us a natural partner for developing SME skills. We understand the commercial pressures of SMEs and that’s why our Carbon Literacy Training is practical, realistic and built around how businesses actually make decisions - not academic theory.

“Our background gives our training a level of practical insight, commercial realism and credibility that is difficult to replicate. Combined with accessible pricing and flexible delivery, SMEs can build a Carbon Literate workforce that delivers real business value from strengthening tender responses, meeting customer expectations and supporting long-term business resilience.”
