Greater Manchester Local Skills Improvement Plan
The Greater Manchester Local Skills Improvement Plan (GM LSIP) is a crucial, employer-informed initiative designed to ensure that the training and education provision meets the evolving employment and skills needs of our city region.
Why must you participate?
The views of businesses are the most valuable data we can collect. Without hearing directly from you, the GM LSIP risks missing the specific, localised skills challenges that Tameside-based businesses face. This is your opportunity to move beyond merely identifying talent issues and actively collaborate on solutions that will close labour and skills gaps in your sector.
By participating in the LSIP, you can:
• Influence Policy and Funding: Ensure that funding allocated for skills and training is invested in the qualifications and courses that businesses and priority sectors genuinely need.
• Solve Talent Issues: Identify common, sector skills shortages that can only be addressed through a coordinated regional approach.
• Build the Future Workforce: Help define new educational pathways and curricula, ensuring that school leavers and graduates arrive job ready.
How can you help?
We are inviting you to participate in a roundtable discussion to cover the following critical issues:
• What are the key roles and capabilities your business requires now and might require in the next 3 to 5 years?
• What specific technical roles are most difficult to recruit?
• What sector-specific, digital or soft skills do you find job seekers lacking?
• What training or upskilling needs do your existing employees have, and how can local providers better support you?
