During my placement at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, I’ve been involved in many events such as round table discussions and awards ceremonies, met lots of new people both internally at the Chamber and externally through their members and have been exposed to new systems and software some of which I have learnt about in the my college courses. It has been great to see things that I have been taught about in lessons, such as CRM software, applied in a real business to understand more about the reasoning and benefits behind business decisions.
The highlight of my placement so far has been the Excellence Awards in which we got to help set up and attend the awards. I will be able to carry this experience of what goes on behind the scenes setting up an event to when we plan and carry out our own event at college. I am looking forward to all the opportunities yet to come with my placement at the Chamber, I’m specifically hoping to learn more about project management and finances.
Overall, in the few months I’ve been on placement I have already gained so much experience and many new skills. I’ve learnt to take initiative and be confident in my work and I can’t wait to keep developing my skills, expanding my knowledge and making valuable connections!

Since starting my placement at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce it has boosted my confidence, and I have had so many amazing experiences. Like attending round table meetings, professional services clubs and many networking events, where I have been able to meet and talk to many people. My first event was a round table meeting with IBM; the meeting was mainly about AI benefits and how it could fix problems but also can create action plans.
These events links to my T-Level course because we will be doing a class event, where we will be doing each element on how to make a popular event. This will include all areas like marketing, finance, planning. So doing my placement at the Chamber will help the class event stay on track with deadlines before and after the date.
One of my highlights so far is the GMCC Excellence awards at the Manchester Hall. This is because it was an amazing opportunity to celebrate different businesses of all sizes being recognised for their achievements across Manchester this year and it was a lovely day to be part of!

I am currently completing my work placement at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. Since the beginning of the year I have been on board here at the chamber and I have been completing many different departmental tasks and have had the opportunity to work with many intelligent individuals and multiple different personalities surrounding various areas of business. My two favourite areas have got to be the events side of the Chamber and the business development sides of the business, the reason behind my liking these areas is because I enjoy understanding businesses and connecting with business minds, I enjoy understanding what they do and how they do it because in the future I hope to open a business of my own and through the help of these illustrious businesses and gaining tips plus life skills from these people it is a major step in the right direction.
On the 10th of October I attended my very first excellence awards ceremony hosted by the Chamber, it was the perfect event because it allowed me to see so many great minds in one place and it also allowed me to see the exciting side of businesses and celebrate their success across the year. The Chamber has had a large impact on my education because it has allowed me to see the things I learn in class happen in a real workspace and understand how they can be put into practice. I have learnt a lot from the chamber so far, but I still hope to learn more about how businesses are run and managed, I would also like to understand how an effective business can be run and maintain success. I hope to do even more new tasks within the chamber, and I can't wait to see what's next.

I am a T Level on placement at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. As it is national T Level week I thought I'd take a moment to share my journey so far with the Chamber and hopefully inspire other T Levels as I truly believe they are an amazing option after finishing school as it not only allows you to expand your knowledge in the classroom but it allows you to be prepared for the working world.
I started my placement with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce in January, and I am so proud of what I've achieved and learnt. On my first few weeks on placement the team kindly gave me a scope of the business and explained in detail about all the amazing things the Chamber does and has to offer to businesses in Greater Manchester. I also spent a few hours each week shadowing the Marketing Director Lucy Mulligan during meetings, which allowed me to learn all the different techniques used when dealing with clients.
From then on, I have been delving in and out of a variety of roles within the business just to learn as much skills as possible and ultimately build me up for my next step after my T Level. So far, I have taken up more of a marketing-based role because it is what I see myself moving into after my placement which involves drafting posts, sending marketing emails, attending networking events and much more. When I first started my placement, I found networking and speaking to new people extremely overwhelming and nerve-racking, however working with the Chamber has allowed me to eliminate any nerves and thrive in these situations.
I'm unbelievably excited to continue my T Level journey with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and I'd like to say a huge thanks to the team for welcoming me and making all these things possible.
