TAKE PART IN OUR GREATER MANCHESTER BUSINESS SURVEY

It is vital that the challenging economic environment that has come out of the pandemic is fully understood and that we continue to monitor and report on all aspects of the local economy and how well businesses are performing. LEVELLING UP – WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BE LEVELLED UP?

The government made a big deal about Levelling Up at the 2019 election. A white paper is expected soon that will outline in more detail what government means by levelling up. To help this along we are after ideas and suggestions from business what they think their area needs to get ‘levelled up’. Is it more money for skills, better transport or something else? Tell us so we can make sure what money there is goes on the right things write and let me know.


BREXIT


We will continue to monitor all aspects of the impact on business created by Brexit and the move to new trade rules with the EU. We will use direct feedback from members in association with survey work to continue to highlight and call for issues to be resolved. Visit our Brexit pages here.

CLEAN AIR ZONE

Phase 1 of a new Greater Manchester wide Clean Air Zone starts at the end of May 2022 when HGVs, buses and coaches that are non-compliant will be charged £60 per day. Phase 2 starts the year after when all other commercial vehicles may be liable to pay a charge. Full details, including an online vehicle checker can be found here: https://cleanairgm.com/
