If you are interested in how apprenticeship policy is developed or have an opinion on the future of apprenticeships in the UK and beyond, we would love to hear from you. Our Skills Team is involved in an Erasmus programme, working with Manchester Metropolitan University and partners in Vienna and Cordoba. Working with our partners, we are learning about different apprenticeship models across Europe and how best practice can be implemented in Greater Manchester.

The Skills Team run an exciting schools programme which gives employers the chance to talk to small groups of pupils about career pathways into their business sector. Our programme give you an opportunity to work with a local school and help young people make informed career choices. Apprentice Share - Launched as a shared Apprenticeship scheme in 2012 with an initial aim of generating a sustainable programme of work for apprentices the shared apprenticeship scheme enables organisations to pool their projects into programmes making more sustainable training opportunities for apprentices.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for SME’s to commit to two or three years training for an apprentice because the work is disjointed and there is a risk that apprentices could become displaced. In this arrangement, Apprentice Share becomes the legal employer of the Apprentice and the on-the-job training is shared amongst various Host Employers.

Apprentice Share works with a Host Employer and whichever training provider the client or Host Employer has requested. The timesheet, payroll and invoicing function is currently carried out by our partner company who are the main point of contact for any employment related query.

Candidate Matching – Candidate matching is a service that matches talented individuals to your current vacancies for a small fee of £500. This allows businesses to recruit individuals that are right for their business without the need to pay heavy recruitment fees. With strong working relationships with the major universities, Colleges and employment services, GMCC can help overcome those recruitment nightmares.

Chamber Train is a suite of high quality professional training courses, designed by business for business.

The Chamber’s Export Documentation department is the leading provider of Export Documentation services to companies in Greater Manchester. We issue over 41,000 documents per year to exporters within the city region, which is equivalent to a document every 12 minutes, with goods valuing over £1 billion.

In Greater Manchester, Export Documentation services are available at our office in Elliot House on Deansgate, Manchester, and at our base at The World Freight Terminal at Manchester Airport. We provide advice on worldwide export documentation requirements and trade regulations, plus a range of specialised ICC publications on international trade. Customers can also access the up-to-date Harmonised System Integrated Tariff.

FAQs

How do I create my business page?

Firstly, check your inbox (and junk folder) for an e-mail providing your business login details. This will have been sent to your primary contact – if you’re unsure whether you should have one, please get in touch with benefits@gmchamber.co.uk

If you have one, just use these to login to your profile and get started!

If you don’t, simply ‘Sign up’ after download and fill in your business details. Contact your Account Manager or benefits@gmchamber.co.uk to find out your unique Member ID which will identify your business as a Chamber Member, and allow you to access member-only offers and discounts.

How do I create my user page?

We’d love your employees to get involved as well and start enjoying the discounts! To sign up, simply download the app, choose ‘user’ and fill out your details.

Please note that you cannot use the same email, username or password for two accounts (business and user), so you may need to choose different details.

Check your email, or contact your Account Manager/ benefits@gmchamber.co.uk for your Organisational ID and Member ID, which will tie the account to your business and to the Chamber.

Simply sign up and you’re ready to start enjoying the offers!

Do I need to use separate email addresses for my business and individual accounts?

Yes, you need to use a separate email address for each account you create, so that they are unique. This also applies to Username and Password fields.

What are the Organisational ID and Member ID numbers for?

The Organisational ID ties your account to the account for Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and allows you to see Member-only offers, news and events. Your Member ID is to identify your business as a Chamber member, and to allow any employee accounts to be linked to the business account, and so see any news from your business.

How do I upload an offer?

Just log in to your business profile and go to your homepage. Click the ‘Manage Posts’ button which will take you to a post dashboard.

Then, click ‘Create Post’ at the top. Choose whether you want to upload an offer, news piece or event, and fill out the information. Add a picture and submit your post!

Can I message other users?

The app has messaging features built in so that users can message any business that turns on the feature – so it’s easier than ever to contact your favourite businesses, and to interact with your customers!

Users and businesses cannot message or search for other users at present, to ensure protected personal information.
