At Nybble, we’re strong believers in giving good advice—whether you’re a customer of ours or not. Our goal is simple: help people stay protected, informed, and confident in a digital world that can feel overwhelmingly noisy and complex.
So, if you do one thing today to protect your business, make it this: Turn on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a sole trader, a growing SME, or a multi-site organisation. It doesn’t matter who looks after your IT. This single action could stop the majority of cyber attacks in their tracks—and it’s simple, quick, and incredibly cost-effective.
What Is MFA?
Multi-Factor Authentication is an extra layer of security added to your logins. It means that even if your password is stolen (and chances are, one has been), a cybercriminal still can’t get in—because they don’t have access to your second “factor” (like your phone, fingerprint, or a one-time code).
You’ll have seen it in action:
- A text message with a code after entering your password
- A prompt on your phone to approve a login
- An app (like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator) generating time-sensitive codes
Why It Matters (Now More Than Ever)
Passwords get leaked all the time. Criminals buy and trade them on the dark web. All it takes is one employee reusing a compromised password on a business account, and suddenly you’ve got:
- An attacker reading emails
- Files being downloaded or locked
- Fake invoices being sent to customers
And these aren’t rare, hypothetical cases. We deal with real-world incidents like this every week.
MFA is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to stop this—and it works.
A No-Brainer Investment
Setting up MFA for your email, cloud services, and admin portals usually costs:
- Little to nothing with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Less than a cup of coffee per user for managed solutions
- A few hours of your IT provider’s time, at most
On a cost vs risk basis, it’s hands down the most important cybersecurity decision you can make.
What You Should Do Right Now
If you’re not sure whether MFA is switched on across your business systems:
- Ask your IT provider or internal team today
- If it’s not already in place, ask them to enable it ASAP
- If they’re unsure how or say it’s not needed—it’s time to have a different conversation
Need Help?
If your current provider can’t implement MFA quickly or confidently, give Nybble a call. We’ll explain the options, help you understand the benefits, and can deploy secure MFA across your systems—either directly or by supporting your internal teams. Because in a world of growing cyber risk, doing nothing isn’t an option.
