Hill Dickinson has officially opened the doors to its new Manchester office at 1 St Michael’s in a move that marks a significant milestone in the firm’s growth and its continued commitment to investing in the city.

The relocation to the 1 St Michael’s development, led by Gary Neville’s Relentless Group, places Hill Dickinson at the heart of one of the city’s most ambitious regeneration projects. Occupying the top office floor of Manchester’s first fully net zero carbon commercial building, the firm’s new 18,200 sq ft workspace is a bold statement, combining sustainability, innovation, and a deep-rooted commitment to the region.

This is more than just a change of scenery for the firm, it’s a strategic investment in the future of its people, its clients, and the wider Manchester business community. The firm has grown its Manchester team to over 230 people since originally opening its doors in the city back in 1997, increasing headcount by a third in the past two years alone. This expansion reflects rising client demand across sectors including healthcare, real estate, finance, and commercial law – and the new office is designed to meet that demand with agility, prioritising a flexible and collaborative working environment.

Following recent expansions in Leeds and Birmingham, the Manchester relocation is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the firm’s national offering while embedding itself further into local markets.

The space itself is standout. Designed by Incognito and delivered by DENTON, it features panoramic views of the city, a private terrace, and a fit out that has already achieved SKA Gold, while targeting NABERS 5-star and BREEAM Outstanding ratings. It’s a workplace built for collaboration and innovation.

Craig Scott, CEO of Hill Dickinson, describes the move as: “a transformational step forward in our firm’s history and it prepares us for many more years of growth to come. Our greatest asset is the remarkable legal minds that deliver the highest quality work for our clients, which is why this is more than a relocation, it’s an investment in creating a place where our people can truly excel.”

Barry Gibb, partner and head of the Manchester office, adds: “Manchester has become one of the most exciting and fastest-growing cities in the UK, and it’s no surprise that we’re seeing more and more people looking to work here… It’s why our new Manchester office marks a defining moment in our growth strategy, setting the foundations for us to capitalise on the region’s upswing and symbolising our long-term commitment to the North West’s business community.”
