Empowering Communities Through Sustainable Energy: Higher Folds Community Centre

At Perfect Sense Energy, we believe that access to clean, affordable energy should be available to everyone — especially the organisations working hardest to support others. That’s why we were proud to partner with Higher Folds Community Centre in Leigh, a local charity providing vital services and opportunities for families across the community.

With funding support from the Energy Resilience Fund and The Social Investment Business, the Centre was able to part-fund an energy-saving project designed to reduce costs and build long-term sustainability.

Our team delivered a complete multi-technology solution, including a 32.85 kWp Solar PV system, 20 kWh DC-coupled battery storage, and energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades.

The results speak for themselves, generating an estimated 16,800 kWh of renewable energy each year, saving over £6,700 annually, and reducing carbon emissions by more than 8 tonnes. These savings allow Higher Folds Community Centre to reinvest more resources directly into their essential community programmes, making every kilowatt count towards social good.

Centre Manager David Rainford praised the project, noting the team’s professionalism, safety standards, and commitment from start to finish:

“It’s been refreshing to deal with a company that combines technical expertise, professionalism, and genuine pride in their work.”

This project is a powerful example of how smart energy solutions can go beyond cutting costs — they can strengthen communities and create lasting social value.
