Staff and students at Xaverian College are celebrating today as the College enjoys yet another year of tremendous A Level and Applied results.
A Level students achieved a pass rate of 99%, with 18 subjects achieving 100% pass rate and over a quarter of all grades being awarded at A* or A.
Those studying Applied subjects also had much to celebrate, with a 100% pass rate and 79% of students achieving high grades of DMM or above.
Many students are now preparing for their next steps, having secured their first-choice destinations, including with some of the UK’s most sought-after universities and several competitive Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.
Jack Padmore, who achieved A*A*A in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and gained a place to study Physics at Durham University, said: “I was really happy seeing my results this morning! Honestly, my favourite thing about Xaverian is the friends I have made and my teachers, who have been fantastic! Getting to learn and develop in such an inspiring environment has been great and, whilst I am somewhat nervous about heading to university, I am excited to take the next steps!”
Grace Cooke, who joined the College after completing her GCSEs at Denton Community College, gained A*A*A in Classical Civilisation, Politics and French, alongside an A* in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), will now be progressing to the University of Cambridge to study Human, Social and Political Sciences. She commented: “I was really happy seeing my results! My teachers made my experience at Xaverian amazing, they have so much experience and strive to make it as engaging as possible. I quickly became consumed in the content and it was all really enjoyable to learn. I would love to pursue something diplomacy-related after university and I think the skills I have gained at Xaverian have set me up well for this. One of the things that I was taught, and that I think will stick with me, is the ability to process a lot of information quickly and to keep on top of current affairs. I have also developed my confidence and public speaking, which are very important!”
Teerath Singh, who is delighted to secure a place at the University of Sheffield to study Economics, achieved A*AB in Economics, Law and Chemistry, said: “I am really happy and certainly wasn't expecting any A* grades! I felt like all of my A Level subjects offered me an opportunity to learn something that will apply to real life, and that was important to me. I know I’ll be the only one to say this, but sitting the exams was my Xaverian highlight! The feeling I had when leaving the exam room for the last time was incredible and it really made me reflect on the journey I had been on over the last two years. Whenever I needed something from my teachers they were on-hand to support, but it was good being able to develop independently, which I know will be useful as I progress to university next month!”
Tony Knowles, Principal, commented: “Once again I am immensely proud of our students and the exceptional results they have achieved this year. Their dedication, resilience and determination has truly paid off, and today is an opportunity for us all to celebrate the hard work they have put in over the last two years at Xaverian.
“Their results reflect, not only the students’ individual talents, but also the unwavering support of our teaching staff, support teams and their families. It is these partnerships, that flourish within the Xaverian community, that make this success possible.
“We send our warmest congratulations and best wishes to all students as they embark on their exciting journeys ahead!”
