Peace Adeoye, Xaverian College student, recently received the news that she has secured a highly-coveted Electrical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), an organisation operating at the forefront of clean energy innovation in the UK and around the world.

With an acceptance rate of just 0.7%, the UKAEA’s Apprenticeship Programme is among the most competitive in the country. The rigorous selection process included an online application, a physics-based online assessment, a video interview with senior engineers and attendance at an assessment centre. Peace impressed at every stage and was successful in being offered the apprenticeship, which is due to start in the summer.

Pease commented on her success by saying: “I’ve always had a deep curiosity for how things work, not just in engineering, but across life. That interest really intensified when I began exploring electronics. The fact that electrical engineering can provide direct solutions to the global energy crisis is what drives my passion. I’m incredibly excited to contribute to UKAEA’s vital work and to grow both personally and professionally.”

Peace credits much of her success to the outstanding support of Xaverian College’s Careers Team. “Mr Jackson, who had actually visited UKAEA twice, was incredibly insightful. Alongside Ms Pollitt and Ms Leach, who helped me realise the importance of believing in myself, even against such tough odds. Their support was invaluable.”

Xaverian College, known for its academic excellence and diverse community, continues to empower students with opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. Peace continued: “I chose to study at Xaverian because of its reputation and strong links with top organisations and universities. The environment here is outstanding, supportive and diverse. I couldn’t have asked for more.”

A former Manchester Communication Academy pupil, currently pursuing A Levels in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, Peace particularly enjoys Mathematics for its focus on logical reasoning and problem-solving, both of which are essential skills for a future engineer. Looking ahead, she aspires to become a Chartered Engineer and Inventor, with ambitions to contribute meaningfully to the global engineering landscape.

Tony Knowles, Principal at Xaverian College commented: “We are all incredibly proud of what Peace has achieved! It is a testament, not only to her drive and talent, but also to the dedicated staff who support and encourage every student to reach their full potential.”

This milestone reflects Xaverian College’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for real-world impact, in the UK and beyond. As one of the largest providers of post-16 education in the region, Xaverian College offers an extensive range of A Levels, and several BTEC courses that can be studied as standalone subjects or combined with A Levels.
