The government has set an ambitious target of an 80% employment rate by 2029 (in GM this is currently 70.9%) by getting more people into work, especially young people and adults who face considerable barriers as well as help businesses upskill their existing workforce.
Locally, Greater Manchester Combined Authority is currently consulting on the ‘Get GM Working Plan’ and is seeking input from local businesses, whose involvement will be essential to the plan’s success.
An online session with the CA team leading this initiative has been scheduled for Friday, 16th May, from 10:00 to 11:00, and businesses are encouraged to participate.
For further details and to receive a briefing paper, contact GMCC Policy Director, Chris Fletcher at chris.fletcher@gmchamber.co.uk.
Local businesses’ insights, contributions, and support will be key in driving this plan forward.
