Earlier this year, 5-1-2 delivered one of their most memorable projects, a specialist out of gauge (OOG) shipment from Batley, UK to Slovakia. The move was a true highlight for their business, demonstrating their capability in managing complex logistics with precision and care.
The shipment involved a large unit that required both careful planning and creative thinking. From the outset, they coordinated the necessary equipment, including a flatbed vehicle and crane to ensure everything was in place for a smooth operation.
While the warehouse space was limited, the team found a safe and effective way to move the unit using two forklifts working in tandem. They carefully guided the equipment out through the tight access doors and into the yard, making full use of the space available without compromising on safety or efficiency.
The yard itself, which also served as an access point for neighbouring businesses, was managed thoughtfully to allow for the operation to continue without disruption. Once the unit was outside, it was professionally wrapped and weatherproofed to ensure it remained protected throughout its journey.
A crane was then used to lift the unit onto the flatbed, and the shipment was on its way. All customs procedures including arrangements for a portion of the load under a Carnet were handled by the team, ensuring a smooth and compliant passage across borders.
Thanks to expert coordination and a proactive approach, the shipment arrived in Slovakia right on schedule.
The end result? A very happy client and another milestone moment for 5-1-2, one they are rightly proud of.
