Stockport-based law firm, Gorvins Solicitors, is celebrating success as one of its team, Almas Patankar, has won a prestigious Insider North West Young Professionals of the Year Award.
Almas, who joined the firm’s Wills, Trusts and Probate team in 2020 as an Associate Solicitor, was crowned winner of the Young Lawyer of the Year category on Wednesday (17th April 2024).
The category looks to recognise outstanding legal talent in the region for individuals aged 35 and under and Almas fought off tough competition from six finalists, including a colleague, to win the trophy.
The panel of judges recognised Almas for going above and beyond her job description, citing her proactivity in learning British Sign Language to support a wider range of clients as a particular highlight.
Almas is currently on Level 2 of her sign language qualification, with the aim of learning to an interpreter level to ensure that those clients often regarded as vulnerable can have immediate access to legal help, without having to refer or wait for assistance from others.

The sold out, black-tie event, hosted at the Midland Hotel on Wednesday 17th April 2024, recognised young talent across a variety of sectors, including finance, marketing, sustainability and apprenticeships.
